Beliefs and Mission
EXCEL Academy of Texas is a college preparatory boarding school with a focus on growing and developing both academic and social skills for its students. EA believes that each and every student has the potential to excel beyond what they previously thought possible. EA strives to create an environment that facilitates this process and promotes discipline, personal responsibility, hard work, academic achievement, and service. EA believes that by developing these areas, students gain the confidence and skills necessary to compete successfully and realize their personal visions.
Our Vision Statement outlines our beliefs:
EXCEL Academy of Texas seeks to be a producer of hope and change for students, their families, and employees. All of our activities are geared towards the transformation of once underachieving, unmotivated students into responsible and highly functional adults. Students will be challenged to capitalize on their strengths and talents and to improve upon their weaknesses in order to reach their highest academic potentials and develop a sense of community responsibility. Staff will be held to the same standards as students. Our goals will be achieved through effective collaboration between students, staff, and parents aimed at problem solving, campus improvement, and innovation.To fulfill our Vision Statement, EXCEL Academy of Texas motivates students to take on various responsibilities throughout their day in order to better prepare them for college and their life ahead. Students are not only responsible for themselves, but for their peer groups as well. Teamwork, accountability, work ethic, growth and maturity are the lessons of each day, whether they be in the classroom or in the dormitory. Small class sizes and individual attention give students with various levels of impeded progress, the chance to learn about and overcome the various obstacles that hindered them in the past. The Academy is dedicated to academic excellence through constant monitoring and evaluation of the academic and social programs in place. Therefore, EXCEL Academy embraces change as a means of improvement and providing the best educational scenario possible. The physical and programmatic growth over the years has led to continuous enhancement and progress in all areas of our school. We continue to be committed to self-analysis and solutions to all problems that arise. Through these means, the Academy aims to produce competitive, dedicated students on par with top students around the country.
EXCEL Academy of Texas staff is expected to display the same qualities and principles that we ask of our students in order to teach by example. Since we insist the student reach his optimal level we expect the same of our instructors. Half of our teachers hold Master's degrees and two more are in process of completion of a graduate degree. Just as important, each teacher and life coach is expected to be mentors. EXCEL is more than a job. The Academy aims to give our students mentors that they can look to for support and advisement in their scholastic and personal endeavors.
